Police Data Files In Western Australia
Inquiries are being made today by NZ Police of our Western Australian counterparts concerning media reports over the weekend of data files received by a Perth newspaper referring to police officers in Australia and New Zealand.
Preliminary advice is that any information on officers outside of Western Australia has been gleaned from open sources such as the news media and internet and is of a generalised nature. NZ Police will seek to verify the reference to an Auckland file and obtain more information on what it contains.
Further information from Western Australia is unlikely until late today.
