NZ Made The Campaign Priority says CTU
CTU President Ross Wilson says that priority must be given to New Zealand made products in the launching of the Buy Kiwi Made campaign.
“We are all well aware of the impact of the burgeoning manufacturing sector in China and the effects it is having on New Zealand industries.”
“Buy Kiwi Made was about showcasing the excellent manufacturing that is happening in New Zealand, and encouraging New Zealanders to support the quality products being made by skilled New Zealand workers.
"The Buy Kiwi Made initiative fitted in well with the CTU’s vision for New Zealand where we invest in the skills, wages and the development of New Zealand workers.”
“While service industries like design are now part of the campaign, they should be subservient to the primary focus of locally made goods.”
“A campaign that supports manufactured goods that have only a tenuous link to New Zealand is not helping New Zealand manufacturers and workers, which was the point of the programme.”
