Update Vehicle Accident In Afghanistan
The two NZDF soldiers injured in the vehicle accident in Afghanistan yesterday (Tuesday 29 August 2006) have been cleared of any serious injury and are resting at the Bagram Coalition base. They are expected to return to the NZ Provincial Reconstruction Team (PRT) base at Bamyan end of the week.
Senior National Officer, Captain Ross Smith visited them yesterday and reported that they were in reasonably good spirits and are expected to fully recover and return to normal duties.
The soldiers, part of New Zealand's Provincial Reconstruction Team based in Bamyan, were travelling as part of a convoy of light 4WD Toyota vehicles undertaking a routine patrol in the Waras District.
