Burma: Junta Extends War On Bloggers
Burma’s generals have been rattled by the success of pro-democracy bloggers inside Burma’s borders and beyond. Recently the junta starting fighting back by denying access to well-known blogging sites inside Burma.
Now they have extended the cyber war by setting up bogus sites with similar URLs to overseas pro-democracy blogs, and attempting to redirect site traffic to porn sites. Gmail accounts of pro-democracy bloggers have been hacked and message boards bombarded with pro-junta propaganda. The pro-democracy bloggers are fighting back by gathering evidence of the junta's cyber sabotage to present to the International Internet Authority.
