Sudden Death Investigation - Lower Hutt

Lower Hutt Police are investigating the Sudden Death of a 22-year-old male that occurred during last evening, Sunday 3 February 2008.

The deceased had attended an outing which cul
minated in the group deciding to go swimming in the Hutt River.

"Upon arriving at the river, the deceased was found to be in a dazed state in the back of the vehicle" states Detective Senior Sergeant Ross LEVY, the Officer in Charge of the Lower Hutt CIB.

"He was transported to Hutt Hospital by family members after they became concerned at his condition. He was pronounced dead upon his arrival at Hutt Hospital.

"At this stage the death is being treated as unexplained." states Mr Levy.

The Coroner has been advised and a Post Mortem to determine the cause of death should be completed today.

Police are continuing to speak with a number of the deceased's family and friends, all of whom are fully cooperating.
