Child Poverty Action Group report

The Child Poverty Action Group released a report yesterday entitled:

Left Behind: How Social and Income Inequalities Damage New Zealand Children

Family care responsibilities, especially where grandparents or kin carers are the primary caregivers, often mean people are vulnerable to living in poverty. Caregivers of children can’t always work, and those on NZ Super get very little from Working for Families unless they are able to work the hours required says Grandparents Raising Grandchildren Trust NZ. Despite repeated requests, children whom are being raised by grandparents or whanau are still the poor cousins.
