Youth Week 2008 Launch Embargoed until Monday 26

Today, the Minister of Youth Affairs Hon Nanaia
Mahuta will host the launch of Youth Week 2008, on behalf of
Youth Week organisers New Zealand Aotearoa Adolescent Health
& Development (NZAAHD).
The launch is an open event at
Pataka Museum in Porirua at 5:00 pm.
The programme
features speeches by the Minister, the Mayor of Porirua
Jenny Brash and NZAAHD National Executive Officer Sarah
Helm. Speeches will be interspersed with entertainment
performed by young local talents.
Hoodie Day is a
highlight of Youth Week 08. Many people throughout New
Zealand will wear a hoodie on Friday 30 May in support of
youth, and challenging youth stereotypes. Anther important
event during Youth Week 2008 is World Smoke Free Day. On May
31 New Zealanders will celebrate that young people today
smoke less than former generations.
The New Zealand
Association for Adolescent Health and Development (NZAAHD)
coordinates Youth Week, with the support of the Ministry of
Youth Development.
