Media Release

EPMU expresses condolences to families affected by Air NZ tragedy

The Engineering, Printing and Manufacturing Union and its members express sincere condolences to the New Zealand families who lost loved ones in the Air New Zealand Airbus 320 tragedy.

The tragedy claimed the lives of five New Zealanders, including a pilot, three engineers and a civil aviation inspector.

The EPMU has sent messages of condolence this morning to Air New Zealand, the Aviation & Marine Engineers Association, the Airline Pilots Association and the Civil Aviation Authority.

"When anything like this happens everybody in the airline, from the chief executive down, feels it and our members at Air New Zealand will be feeling the gap left by the loss of their colleagues," says EPMU national secretary Andrew Little.

"Our thoughts are with all who have lost loved ones in this terrible tragedy."
