Is National to become a one-hit wonder?

The Sensible Sentencing Trust says the National Party appear to have learnt nothing from the downfall of the Labour Party at the last Election and may be a one-hit wonder if they choose to ignore the result of the Anti-Smacking Referendum.

Trust Spokesman Garth McVicar said the extraordinary result sent a loud clear message to the National party.

“1.4 million Mums and Dads have sent a clear message to National that they are not happy with the current smacking law.”

National only managed 45% of the vote at the last Election, to put that in perspective nearly twice that number [87.6%] have sent a warning shot over the Prime Ministers bows and McVicar says this is a very serious warning to John Keys reign.

“Helen Clarke discovered to her peril that New Zealanders have long memories, if John Key also chooses to ignore the people the National Government is likely to be a one-hit wonder.”

“As a boy John Key may have had a dream to be Prime Minister but that dream is likely to become a nightmare if he does not understand the serious threat his government is now under”.
