A Rainbow coloured political meltdown?

Chris Carter MP – A Rainbow coloured political meltdown?

In an interview on a recent Breakfast on One (TV One) programme hosted by the gaffe-prone Paul Henry, young National MP Simon Bridges referred to Labour MP and former Cabinet Minister, Hon Chris Carter, as “married to Peter Kaiser” – the electoral chairman of the Carter’s Te Atatu electorate and a primary school principal in charge of many young boys. Carter had just been ‘outed’ and condemned by the country for his ostentatious misuse of his ministerial credit card used on numerous overseas junkets and for taking Peter his ‘spouse’ with him on each trip at the tax-payers’ expense. Neither Paul Henry nor Simon Bridges’s fellow young panelist, Labour Party List MP Jacinda Ardern, raised an eyebrow or a ‘young-gun’ wrinkle over the “marriage” reference. They both gave viewers the distinct impression that there was nothing abnormal or controversial about Chris being “married” to a man called Peter Kaiser, as ‘proven’ by the fact that both men had ‘tied the knot’ as homosexuals publicly with the blessing of both former Prime-Minister Helen Clark, one of Carter’s closest mature confidants, as well as the entire hugely diverse Rainbow sector of the Labour Party.

Now that Hon. Phil Goff, current leader of the Labour Party, has cast Chris Carter out into the political wilderness for his lies, deception and loathsome sabotage with the unanimous support of the party’s caucus, what is the future for the defiant Mr Carter who says he intends to stay on in parliament as an independent backbench MP until the next election, drawing his $150,000 salary plus generous MP perks and allowances?

To answer this question we must examine the character of this 57 year old (approximate) man who would stab his own leader in the back under the pretence of anonymity, deny he did it when confronted by his leader-victim, and then claim he loves the Party he has severely wounded. Add to this bizarre mix his passionate declaration of his undying admiration of the personal qualities of his leader who he has sought to shaft by deception, cunning and stealth.
