New Zealand Council Statement on Chris Carter and Te Atatu

The New Zealand Council of the Labour Party met this morning to consider all issues concerning Chris Carter and the Te Atatu electorate, including hearing from representatives of Mr Carter.

The Council confirmed that Mr Carter has a case to answer under the Party’s disciplinary rules and the Council will continue to deal with this matter in accordance with the principles of natural justice.

The Council announced that nominations for the Labour candidate for the Te Atatu electorate are re-opened forthwith and will close at 5.00pm on Friday 8 October 2010.
