Local Government Elections Nominations Close
Local Government Elections Nominations Close
Nominations closed today at noon for candidates wanting to stand in this year’s local authority elections.
Candidates standing for election for Hawke’s Bay Regional Council, Hastings District Council, Napier City Council, Central Hawke’s Bay District Council, Wairoa District Council, Hastings District Rural Community Board, Flaxmere Licensing Trust or the Hawke’s Bay District Health Board have completed their nominations with electoral officers.
Detailed lists of candidates will be issued from Monday 23 August by each council and the district health board.
Voters should also have sent back any changes to their electoral roll listing by today, such as change of address. Anyone who did not need to change information did not need to do anything.
The postal voting papers will be sent out from 17 September and must be received back before noon on Saturday 9 October.
An elections website has been launched this year so that voters can find out more about candidates and for candidates to address particular issues of concern in their electorates. Go to www.elections2010.co.nz.
