Wayne Brown Invites Public to Local Meetings

Wayne Brown Invites Public to Local Meetings

Far North Mayor Wayne Brown kicks off his public meetings tonight in Opononi and invites the Far North public to attend a meeting in their area.

“Short and sweet with an opportunity to address audience questions is the plan,” says Wayne.

“I’m really looking forward to my next term so I can embed the savings and improvements made to council over this term. A council that is running efficiently means we can focus more energy and policy on development and moving forward rather than standing still, or heaven forbid, going backwards.”

“Simply put, the less money wasted on red tape means more money invested back into community and economic development.”

“At the public meetings, I’ll review my achievements over the last three years as Mayor, including how I’ve met my election promises from 2007; namely my success in being well on the way to fixing an outdated and beauracratic council.”

“This has resulted in the speeding up of building permits and resource consents (now in the top ten in the country), improved staff helpfulness and accessibility, improved community facilities, the trimming of rate rises to match inflation (only 3.3% per year) and an astonishing and desperately needed $8million in ongoing operating savings.”

“I will also present details on the LIVE, WORK and INVEST initiatives we have underway to help lift the economy of the Far North over my next term. These include our events strategy, new investment stimulus schemes, innovative roading and sewerage solutions, and the promotion of better-linked and stronger business associations in all our towns”.

“Great plans are in place and I want the public to know about them so they can vote me in and see them through.”

“I’m well known for being a straight-talker and always enjoy a good banter. I will welcome any questions from the audience and the public can also submit questions to my website www.votebrowny.co.nz where I will address them as soon as possible,” concludes Browny
