Full Election Coverage On Maori Television

Maori Television will provide full Election Day coverage in a five-hour special of its award-winning current affairs series, NATIVE AFFAIRS, from 7.00pm on 26 November.

Hosted by Julian Wilcox, NATIVE AFFAIRS’ election series KOWHIRI 11 has broadcast candidate debates live from all seven Maori electorates over the past three weeks to arm voters with the information to make an informed decision at the polling booth.

On Election Day, the programme’s team of leading journalists will report live from around the country to track development and talk to voters in each of the Maori electorates.

A panel of commentators spanning the political spectrum will join Wilcox at Maori Television’s Auckland studio to discuss the results as they come in – and inject a dash of humour into the evening.

Commentators include: Former Alliance MP Sandra Lee; Senior Lecturer in Maori Development at AUT University Ella Henry; broadcaster and former Maori Party candidate Derek Fox; comedian, radio and television personality Mike King; Carterton Mayor and former NZ First MP Ron Mark, and actor Rawiri Paratene.

Maori Television Head of News and Current Affairs Te Anga Nathan says the commentary team has a huge amount of knowledge of the Maori electorates, Maori voters and voting habits.

NATIVE AFFAIRS – KOWHIRI 11 will be live-streamed on the Maori Television website, http://www.maoritelevision.com.

A two-hour post-election wrap will air on Monday, 28 November featuring interviews with major winners in the election.
