It’s a New Day – Maranga Mai – Jigsaw National Conference

Social service providers are being challenged to break out of their tired old thinking and come up with fresh new ideas on how to help all vulnerable children live healthy and productive lives at a unique conference being held in Wellington.

Jigsaw Family Services is holding its National Conference at Te Papa in Wellington 10-12 October 2012.

This year Jigsaw will be asking how can we inspire families to grow the future generations and become less dependent on social services? There will also be frank discussion on what providers need to do to become more family-focused and encourage families to take charge of their own destiny.

This conference is timely: The government’s White Paper on Vulnerable Children is being released by Minister of Social Development Paula Bennett on Thursday 11th October at 9am.
Keynote speakers include:
- the Minister for Social Development Paula Bennett
- Murray Edridge, Head of Family and Community Services (MSD)
- Dr Airini, Head of School of Critical Studies in Education, University of Auckland
- Dr Fiona Cram, Director of Katoa Ltd, a Kaupapa Maori research and evaluation company
- Jigsaw’s Patron, Judy Bailey

Jigsaw is a network of 42 social service agencies working to prevent all forms of child abuse, family violence and neglect and to provide support to families so they can raise their children in safe and nurturing ways.
