Republican Movement to kick-off Time for Change campaign

MEDIA RELEASE 10 November 2012

Republican Movement to kick-off Time for Change campaign

With Prince Charles and his wife Camilla arriving in New Zealand for a publicity tour tonight, the Republican Movement will kick-off its 'Time for Change' campaign tonight.

"Our campaign will be about raising the issue of New Zealand's head of State, to get New Zealanders thinking about the issue" said Lewis Holden, chair of the Republican Movement.

"We'll be a bit cheeky in the campaign, but our message is important: it's time for change. It's time we started talking about making the transition to a New Zealander as our head of State, chosen by New Zealanders." concluded Mr Holden
ENDS
The Republican Movement is a network of New Zealanders who want our head of state to be elected by New Zealanders - either directly or indirectly.
We are committed to:
• involving all New Zealanders in the republic debate;
• providing relevant and reliable information;
• focusing on ideas, not personalities;
• winning a referendum to establish the republic;
Creating a republic does not require any change to the Treaty of Waitangi, flag or Commonwealth membership. For more information, see our website: www.republic.org.nz
