Keep calm and call 0800 CENSUS
Haven’t received your census forms for Tuesday 5 March yet? Don’t panic, Statistics New Zealand has you covered.
General Manager 2013 Census Carol Slappendel says that census collectors have done a fantastic job getting forms to most homes in New Zealand.
But she says there is a point at which people should contact Statistics NZ if they haven’t received their forms.
“If by Sunday, 3 March you have not received your Internet Access Code and paper forms call our helpline on 0800 CENSUS (0800 236787).
“We will get the Internet Access Code and forms you need to participate in the 2013 Census out to you as soon as possible. You can do your forms online or on paper, in English or Mâori.
Everyone in New Zealand on census day must fill in a form.
“The census is compulsory and while Statistics NZ is making every effort to deliver forms to every home in the country, people should contact us if they have not received their forms by Sunday."
If you are away from home but in New Zealand on census night just fill in an individual form at the place you are staying on census night. If you are overseas on census night you don’t have to do the census."
“It’s important not only that everyone takes part in the census but also that we provide true and accurate information on our forms so that the best decisions based on census information can be made.
“Information from the census helps determine how billions of dollars of government funding is spent in the community.
“It is used to help make decisions about
which services are needed and where they should be, such as
hospitals, kôhanga reo, schools, roads, public transport,
and recreational facilities.
