EQC must Release Timeframes on Multi-Dwelling Settlements

27 March 2013

Call for EQC to Release Timeframes on Multi-Dwelling Settlements

EQC need to front up to the people in Christchurch with a firm set date and a process for settlements on multi-dwelling properties.

Information leaked to a third party and posted on www.rebuildchristchurch.co.nz provides more detail from EQC relating to their internal settlement deadlines. What is concerning is there is no timelines or dates set for multi-dwelling properties.

The Rebuild Christchurch Foundation understands that an EQC unit has only very recently been established to start processing all of the multi-dwelling claims which will see every multi-dwelling property re-assessed by this team sometime in the future.

Brent Selwyn of the Foundation says “EQC has a responsibility to inform and communicate deadlines and processes to its customers.”

“It is unacceptable after two years that people with multi-dwelling properties are still in limbo regarding their EQC claim,” says Selwyn.

The Rebuild Christchurch Foundation says EQC must front up this issue and communicate the process, including an indicative timeframe for settlements so that the residents in these situations can further plan and get on with their lives.
