Pakistan, the Seychelles, Qatar envoys present credentials

New envoys to present their credentials

Envoys for Pakistan, the Seychelles and Qatar will present their credentials to the Governor-General, Lt Gen Rt Hon Sir Jerry Mateparae, at Government House in Wellington tomorrow (Thursday 16 May 2013).

The ceremony, which will include a Māori ceremonial challenge, and a military guard of honour provided by the Royal New Zealand Air Force, begins at 11am.

The High Commissioner for the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, HE Ms Zehra Akbari is a career diplomat. She has served as Ambassador to Mexico and was Director General (South Asia) with Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Ms Akbari is based in Wellington.

The High Commissioner for the Republic of Seychelles, HE Mr Waven Winslow William, has previously served as a public servant and was for many years an elected member of the National Assembly. Mr William is based in New Delhi.

The Ambassador of the State of Qatar, HE Mr Yousef Ali Al-Khater, is a public servant who has previously worked at senior levels in the Ministry of Education. Among other appointments, he has served as Secretary-General of the Qatar National Commission for Education, Science and Culture. Prior to his current appointment, Mr Al-Khater, was Qatar’s Consul-General in Texas. Mr Al-Khater is based in Canberra.
