Maori Party replies to Labour Party death threats
The statement by the list Labour MP Shane Jones to "disestablish" or kill the Maori Party is an admission of both desperation and arrogance, says Maori Party president Rangimarie Naida Glavish.
This follows a statement to the media by Jones that he was going to launch a campaign that would see the demise of the Maori Party.
“Our focus is on getting as many benefits we can for our people, and our successful Whanau Ora policy shows that we've won more by being at the table with the Government since 2008, than anything the Labour Party gained for Maori in the decades during which Maori looked to them for justice," said Ms Glavish.
"But we will cast aside his meaningless bluster and get on with the job of gaining more for our people," Ms Glavish added.
