DOC'S Indifference to Mismanagement of Taxpayers’ Money
DOC'S Indifference to Mismanagement of Taxpayers’ Money Unbelievable
18 December 2013
Responding to the Director-General of Conservation’s statement today regarding DoC failed land information system upgrade uncovered by the Taxpayers' Union, Jordan Williams, Executive Director of the Union says:
“Taxpayers should be outraged that the Director-General’s statement fails to even mention the damning reports on his own department’s performance. What confidence can we take that the mistakes will not be repeated?”
“DoC needs to learn that it’s not the cock-up that get’s you, it’s the cover-up.”
“The Taxpayers’ Union has uncovered an IT botch up costing taxpayers millions of dollars. The independent reports commissioned by DoC put the blame squarely at officials for mismanagement, lack of governance and personality clashes."
"Instead of apologising and making sure the problems are not repeated, all we get are excuses from DoC.”
The New Zealand Taxpayers’ Union is a non-partisan activist group, dedicated to being the voice for Kiwi taxpayers in the corridors of power. It’s here to fight government waste and make sure New Zealanders get value for money from their tax dollar.
