Labour Dumps Tax Cut Policies
Labour Dumps Tax Cut Policies
Reacting to the Labour Party’s announcement that it has dumped its policies of having the first $5,000 of earnings tax-free and of removing GST from fresh fruit and vegetables, Taxpayers’ Union Executive Director, Jordan Williams says:
“While there were arguments about the complication of exempting fruit and vegetables from GST, at least it acknowledged that New Zealanders are over-taxed. We hope that Labour will announce other areas it will focus on to reduce the tax burden, rather than tax Kiwis more to spend on pet projects and election headlines.”
“The Taxpayers’ Union looks forward to Mr Cunliffe announcing his alternative policies to reduce the tax burden on hard working New Zealanders.”
