Selects Five New Electorate Candidates
selected a further five electorate candidates in a busy
weekend of contested selections involving speeches,
questions and answers, and member voting. Around half of
candidate selections have now been completed.

Mametov, an insurance representative
Barry Kirker, a registered clinical psychologist
PAPAKURA Jerome Mika, a
union organiser and community advocate
COUNTRY Penny Gaylor, an Otaki Councillor on
the Kapiti Coast District Council
Kelly Ellis, a local lawyer
Labour Party President, said today:
“An impressive range
of nominees has emerged in this selection round. These five
candidates, encompassing legal, financial, community and
clinical experience enhance that range of skills”.

When we did occupy a temporary UN Security Council seat in the 1990s, New Zealand was forthright about the need for the international community to actively respond to the Rwanda genocide. On April 14, 1994, New Zealand, Nigeria and the Czech Republic were the only nations to call for a forceful UN intervention to halt the killings. It was a proud moment in the diplomatic record of the Bolger government.
