Key Opts for Lolly Scramble Over Tax Cuts
Key Opts for Lolly Scramble Over Tax
Cuts
3 APRIL 2014
FOR IMMEDIATE
RELEASE
The Taxpayers’ Union is
disappointed with Prime Minister John Key’s
indication that the May Budget will have no plans
for tax cuts. Union Executive Director, Jordan
Williams, says:
“Just as the Government is in sight of a surplus, the Prime Minister is indicating that any extra cash will be used for election bribes rather than giving it back to those who earned it. With the economy recovering and the Government books nearly back in shape, Wellington should be giving New Zealand taxpayers a break and leaving more money in their pockets.”
“The reduction in ACC levies which came into effect on
April 1 were a good start, but there is plenty more to do to
ease New Zealand’s high tax
burden.”
