Taxpayers’ Union Welcomes Government Clamp Down On Tax Dodgers
11 April 2014
The Taxpayers’ Union is welcoming the Minister of Revenue’s comments at the OECD Cash and Hidden Economy Conference today. The union's Executive Director, Jordan Williams, says:
“The high returns from clamping down on tax evasion and avoidance shows that too many are dodging the rules. Unfortunately tax evasion is often aided by the complexity of the current system. Along with the beefed up enforcement, Mr McClay should also be focused at simplifying tax rules.”
“While we think that New Zealanders are taxed too much and that the tax system should streamlined, there is no excuse for individuals and organisations cheating.”
The New Zealand Taxpayers’ Union is a non-partisan activist group, dedicated to being the voice for Kiwi taxpayers in the corridors of power. It’s here to fight government waste and make sure New Zealanders get value for money from their tax dollar.
