Pay It Back Ms Hauiti

Pay It Back Ms Hauiti

24 July 2014

Responding to the Newstalk ZB report that disgraced MP Claudette Hauiti is refusing to confirm whether or not she has reimbursed taxpayers for misuse of her Parliamentary 'P-card', Taxpayers’ Union Executive Director, Jordan Williams, says:

“Ms Hauiti still draws a salary of almost $150,000, how has she not managed to reimburse the taxpayer for her supposed $200 trip to Australia and hui ‘refreshments’?"

“It beggars belief that a MP would go to ground and refuse to commit to reimbursing the taxpayer for the sake of a few hundred dollars.”

“We are calling on Claudette Hauiti to come clean on how much money is involved, what other misspending has occurred and show that taxpayers have been reimbursed.”

The New Zealand Taxpayers’ Union is an independent activist group, dedicated to being the voice for Kiwi taxpayers in the corridors of power. It’s here to fight government waste and make sure New Zealanders get value for money from their tax dollar.
