Len Brown Should Front up on State House Secrecy
Responding to today's NZ Herald article that reveals leaked images of
the $1.5 million state house sculpture planned for
Auckland’s Queens Wharf,Taxpayers’ Union
Executive Director Jordan Williams says:
“Does Len Brown really consider an art project, which includes a $750,000 chandelier, to be the most pressing need for ratepayer money? We thought putting Len Brown up in hotels was expensive, but that pales in comparison to this.”
“Instead of relieving poverty, the Council is wasting money on a monument for it! Len Brown should be answering the questions why."
“Ratepayers expect accountability and openness from their elected representatives, not secrecy and loose spending. Given the Council's financial blowout, it is time for Auckland Council’s culture of extravagant spending to end.”
