Residential Property Speculators Days Numbered

Residential Property Speculators Days Numbered in Christchurch ... the Press Report

Rent heat cools as homes are replaced ... Liz McDonald ... The Press

Comment on thread (in moderation) …

Christchurch is a “severely unaffordable” City as the Annual Demographia Survey ( www.demographia.com ) illustrates … thanks to the long history of the Christchurch City Council failing to release affordable land and failing to finance infrastructure properly.

However … as new housing production has ramped up, most particularly in the adjoining Counties of Waimakariri and Selwyn, there is only one way house prices and rentals are going to go … down. The older less desirable stock the speculators had been loading themselves up with, is going to be very hard hit indeed.

The NZ Property Investors Federation with its nonsense ‘research’ is rightly petrified, as this article by Rob Stock of the Sunday Star Times at the weekend illustrates … HOUSING JUST ‘AS AFFORDABLE’ …

http://www.stuff.co.nz/business/money/10387818/Houses-just-as-affordable

The only way to sort out the speculators and restore affordable housing, is with affordable new housing supply. The speculators days are coming to an end very fast indeed.
