Auckland Emperor's New Bard

Responding to the Newstalk ZB report that Auckland Mayor Len Brown has established a $12,000 Auckland Mayoral Writers Grant, Taxpayers’ Union Executive Director Jordan Williams says:

“Len Brown is looking for a writer to chronicle events in Auckland. The Taxpayers’ Unionhas beaten him to it, with our Ratepayers’ Report showing Auckland Council has the highest group liabilities per ratepayer at almost $16,000.”

“As if Aucklanders were not already burdened enough with out of control spending, it now appears that the Emperor’s Court requires a new bard.”

“Len Brown might like to think of himself as Emperor of Auckland, but to Auckland ratepayers he appears as nothing short of a court jester dishing out their money.”
