Julia Gillard in Conversation at the University of Auckland

Julia Gillard former Prime Minister of Australia and leader of the Australian Labor Party will give a talk at the University of Auckland this Tuesday 18 November.

Ms Gillard was the 27th Prime Minister of Australia, and the Australian Labor Party leader from 2010 to 2013. She is the first woman to hold either position.

The talk, in the Fisher & Paykel Auditorium, Owen G Glenn Building, 12 Grafton Road, starts at 6pm. The event features Julia Gillard in an hour of conversation with former political journalist and lawyer Linda Clark. It draws on her recently published memoirs, My Story.

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Stuart McCutcheon, will introduce Julia Gillard, who will discuss her term as Prime Minister, her life in Australian politics, and her current involvement with Hillary Clinton and the CHARGE initiative which includes $600 million in funding for the education of girls and women globally. There will be a question & answer session at the end.

The event, which will be streamed live on the University’s website, has been arranged in partnership with Auckland Writers Festival, in association with Penguin Random House.
