CERA Chief’s delayed resignation raises questions

The Public Service Association (PSA) says the decision that resigning CERA chief executive Roger Sutton should remain in his position until 31 January raises questions, considering his behaviour did not meet the standard expected of our senior public servants.

Erin Polaczuk, PSA national secretary, said “The PSA is pleased that the SSC took this matter very seriously and ran a thorough investigation,”

“Mr Sutton choosing to remain in his job until January 31st raises questions about how the rights of his employees will be safeguarded from any future repetition of his actions.

“The PSA is committed to working with the State Services Commission to ensure positive workplace behaviours, in a sector where sexual harassment and bullying are all-too-common.

“This investigation is a timely reminder of how much work is still to be done to ensure public service workplaces enable all public servants to thrive.

“Positive workplace behaviours are in everyone’s interest, and it appears that Mr Sutton’s actions fell short of this,” said Erin Polaczuk.
