West Papua Action is coordinating a demonstration against the killing of five schoolboys in Paniai, West Papua last week. This shocking event took place when security forces opened fire on a peaceful demonstration. The victims were aged 17 and 18 and were in school uniform. Similar demonstrations are taking place around the world.

Participants and passersby will be asked to sign letters:

1. to the Indonesian President- calling on him to ensure that a fully independent enquiry is conducted and that the perpetrators including those with command responsibility are held to account.

2. To the NZ Ministers of Defence and Foreign Affairs calling for a suspension of defence ties to the Indonesian military, and reminding our Government that this latest atrocity is only one in a long list of documented abuses by the security forces against civilians in West Papua.
