Poroporoaki ki a Tākuta Apirana Tuahae Kaukapakapa Mahuika

He poroporoaki ki a Tākuta Apirana Tuahae Kaukapakapa Mahuika

He tangi apakura mōu kua riro nei i te hao nui a Hine-nui-te-pō.

Dr. Apirana Mahuika (Api) was one of the most influential and iconic Māori leaders of recent times and his loss will be felt throughout the nation. Api will long be remembered for his unwaivering commitment to his people, Ngāti Porou. His staunch passion for maintaining the mana motuhake of Ngāti Porou in all aspects was admired throughout New Zealand. Api was one of the longest serving iwi leaders and Ngāti Kahungunu Iwi Inc. wishes to extend our deepest sympathies to his wife and whānau as they mourn his loss today.

111 Support: Govt Axes Mental Health Pilot

The Government’s decision to axe a universally-supported pilot to improve the response to 111 mental health calls is nothing short of disgraceful, especially after Labour pledged to make mental health a priority, National’s Police spokesperson Chris Bishop says.

“It has been revealed that Labour has scrapped a pilot in which a mental health nurse would attend mental health incidents alongside police and paramedics to ensure that people in distress receive timely responses that are tailored to their needs.” More>>
