MPS' Actions Confirm
Stereotypes

The Taxpayers’ Union says that political parties currently voting under urgency for a half-baked policy on MPs’ remuneration confirms all the negative stereotypes taxpayers hold about their elected representatives. Taxpayers’ Unionspokesperson, Ben Craven, says:
“Notwithstanding the Green Party all MPs have so far voted in favour of this half-hearted reform of MPs' remuneration. The 'reform' was worked out behind closed doors and may actually lead to even higher pay hikes for MPs.“
“This contentious piece of legislation should not be pushed through under Parliamentary urgency. It should have gone through a select committee process so taxpayers’ could provide their point of view.”
“These are actions which convey all the negative stereotypes that the public have about their elected officials – that when it comes to MPs' pay, politicians cannot be trusted to protect taxpayers."
