The
Taxpayers’ Union wishes to apologise to Hon. Peter
Dunne, in response to his criticism of the Taxpayers’ Union
for missing an example of government waste in yesterday’s
edition of the Dominion Post. Taxpayers’ Union
Executive Director, Jordan Williams, says:
“Most of our
staff were in Auckland yesterday for the launch of, The Taniwha Tax: Briefing paper on Auckland
Council’s new Mana Whena rules. Mr Dunne was right
to point out that we did indeed miss this outrageous example
of waste by the Parliamentary Service. We thank him for
bringing it to the public's attention.”
“We strongly
encourage Mr Dunne to donate to the Taxpayers’
Union via our website so that we can have more
resources to discover and expose this sort of Government
waste. Alternatively, rather than issuing a media release
criticising the Union, Mr Dunne may wish to first alert us
via our confidential tip line next time he wants
us to highlight an example of the Government wasting
precious taxpayer
money."

Any number of movie examples come to mind, beginning with Rudolf Valentino’s role (over a century ago) as the romantic Arab hero in The Sheik... More
