What a Popping Waste of Money

What a Popping Waste of Money

“There’s something different in the water drunk by Waitemata Local Board resulting in a large waste of money,” says Mayoral candidate Stephen Berry. “I’m still struggling to work out exactly what Pop is but it appears to be a bunch of artists paid by Waitemata Local Board to make mischief and attach crap to pedestrian lights.”

“The organisation named Pop first appears to have commenced its activities with the politically incorrectly named White Face crew engaging in ‘roving tomfoolerly and general shenanigans.’ Next it seems they might have put the word pop in some places but it really is hard to tell from the pulsating visuals on their website. Now I gather they have begun tying tubes and devices to hit them with to various public utilities all funded by ratepayers.”

“I seem to remember enjoying participating in tomfoolery and shenanigans in my not distant twenties but it wasn’t funded by Waitemata Local Board and I never imagined for a second that any local board would actually give me money for doing it.

“Pop certainly will be amusing to some but paying for it is not even in the outer realms of core Council business. It was only recently that Local boards around the city were protesting budget cuts which could lead to reduced library hours. Now we find they’re spending in on rubbish.

“So come on Waitemata Local Board; how much has this cost and which idiots voted for it?”
