Taxpayers' Union Urge Car Owners to Avoid ACC
Over-Payment 25 MAY 2015
The Taxpayers’ Union is
urging car owners to be careful renewing motor vehicle
licences before lower ACC levy rates come into effect on 1
July and is encouraging the public not to follow the New
Zealand Transport Agency’s default option of 12-month
licence renewal.
Taxpayers’ Union Executive
Director, Jordan Williams, says:
"If your motor vehicle
registration is due to expire, NZTA will write to you
inviting you to renew the registration. Incredibly the
notices invite recipients to renew at the current rates for
up to 12 months, despite ACC levies dropping by 41%, on
average, from 1 July.”
“Instead of ACC levy cuts being
factored in, people will need to renew their licence twice
to ensure that they get the advantage of the lower rate. We
want to ensure that Kiwis aren’t duped into renewing their
motor vehicle for a year at the higher rates."
If you're using Scoop for work, your organisation needs to pay a small license fee with Scoop Pro. We think that's fair, because your organisation is benefiting from using our news resources. In return, we'll also give your team access to pro news tools and keep Scoop free for personal use, because public access to news is important!
Depictions of Islam in Western popular culture have rarely been positive, even before 9/11. Any number of movie examples come to mind, beginning with Rudolf Valentino’s role (over a century ago) as the romantic Arab hero in The Sheik... More
