New envoys to present their credentials in Wellington


Envoys for Romania, Cyprus, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Norway will present their credentials to the Governor-General, Lt Gen Rt Hon Sir Jerry Mateparae, at Government House in Wellington on Wednesday (Wednesday 03 June, 2015).

The ceremony, which will include a Māori ceremonial challenge and a military guard of honour provided by the Royal New Zealand Air Force, begins at 11am.

The Ambassador of Romania, Her Excellency Mrs Nineta Bãrbulescu, is a law graduate who joined the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1997. She held the position of Director General for Export Controls before being appointed Ambassador to Australia and New Zealand. Mrs Bãrbulescu is based in Canberra.

The High Commissioner for the Republic of Cyprus, Her Excellency Mrs Ioanna Malliotis has an MA in International Relations from the University of Maryland. She has held postings in Austria, France, the Netherlands and the People’s Republic of China. Mrs Malliotis is based in Canberra.

The Ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina, His Excellency Mr Bakir Sadovic has an MA in European Studies from Sarajevo University and has worked for his country’s Ministry of the Interior as well as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He has held postings in the Netherlands and South Africa. Mr Sadovic is based in Canberra.

The Ambassador of the Kingdom of Norway, Her Excellency Ms Unni Kløvstad is a career diplomat, joining her country’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1993. She has held postings in New York and Brussels as well as being the Director, Head of Section for Security Policy and North America. Ms Kløvstad is based in Canberra.
