Further leaks on secretive trade agreement mean Govt must come clean

The Public Service Association (PSA) says the Government must come clean on New Zealand’s role in negotiating the secretive Trade in Services Agreement (TISA), which could remove New Zealanders rights to quality, well regulated public services.

Erin Polaczuk, PSA national secretary, said “In an open democratic society, the future of public health care, child care, postal, broadcasting, water, and other services must be discussed openly,”

“The latest leaked TISA documents mean the Government can no longer hide their involvement and must come clean.

“Public services exist for the good of all New Zealanders, not for the profit of multinational corporations.

“Minister Tim Groser must explain why he is so keen to abandon local control of the public services New Zealanders use and trust.

“The impact of TISA will be felt by every New Zealander when they interact with a Government funded service, so New Zealanders have a right to know about it,” said Erin Polaczuk.
