Best-selling author speaking at the University of Auckland

Best-selling author and former BBC journalist Anne Cadwallader is speaking at the University of Auckland next week.

Cadwallader is the author of 'Lethal Allies, British Collusion in Ireland'.

Published in 2013, it is considered one of the most important books about the dirty war fought in Northern Ireland during the 30 years between 1968 and 1998.

Lethal Allies alleges that members of the police force, the Royal Ulster Constabulary (RUC), and Ulster Defence Regiment (UDR), were part of a loyalist gang that killed more than 100 people in just one small area in the 1970s.

Cadwallader left journalism after a 26-year career to join the human rights organisation, the Pat Finucane Centre, as a researcher. She now works alongside bereaved families trying to discover more about the circumstances in which their relatives were killing during the Northen Ireland conflict.

Lethal Allies draws on fifteen years of research, official reports and ballistic information never before published.

Her talk is on Tuesday 30 June 12-1pm, room 901, level 9,Human Sciences Building, (201E) University of Auckland.
