The Promise and Challenge of 2015

The Promise and Challenge of 2015

Helen Clark, Administrator of the United Nations Development Programme to give Bishop Sir Paul Reeves Memorial Lecture

Rt. Hon. Helen Clark ONZ SSI, will give the Bishop Sir Paul Reeves Memorial Lecture, at 7:30pm on August 26th, at the Sir Paul Reeves Building in AUT University, Auckland.

Former New Zealand Prime Minister Helen Clark is the Administrator of the United Nations Development Programme.

Speaking from her perspective as the head of the United Nations Development Group, Helen Clark says that bold commitments and action are needed from governments at all levels; civil society – including the scientific, research, and academic communities; and business to eradicate extreme poverty and tackle head on the disruptive inequalities, environmental, and other challenges faced by our world.

In this comprehensive lecture, Helen Clark describes the foundations of the emerging universal and transformational sustainable development agenda at the United Nations. She makes a bold case for why we all have a stake in the outcomes of the 2015 global negotiations and calls for all countries to play their part through risk-informed approaches to development. Helen Clark believes that the international community can build on its unprecedented wealth, technology and knowledge to set the world on track for a more peaceful, inclusive and sustainable future for all.

Radio NZ’s Jim Mora will be the Master of Ceremonies for this outstanding evening.
