Solid Energy Stops Company Bleeding Taxpayers' Money
Responding to the announcement that Solid Energy is entering a temporary 5-week period of voluntary administration, after which the company is expected to announce an orderly sell-down of assets, Taxpayers’ Union spokesman, Ben Craven says:
“Taxpayers have already contributed $195 million to Solid Energy as recently as 2012. It was obvious then that politicians were throwing taxpayers’ money at a company which simply was not viable.”
“Irrespective of whether a company is owned by the government or privately, taxpayers should not be footing the bill for enterprises that can no longer stand on their own two feet.”
