National Pacific MPs will vote against Easter
Trading bill changes
The Pacific sector of the
Labour Party believe the National Pacific MP’s will vote
against liberalising Easter trading laws
Easter Friday and
Sunday are important days in the Pacific calendar and this
would have a major impact on Pacific communities. Not only
is it a time with family but a lot of Pacific Churches have
their National Conferences and events planned on this
important weekend.
We don’t believe the National
Pacific MP’s would sell out their community like
Employment Relations Minister Michael Woodhouse who, after
voting against Easter trading changes in 2012, is now
proposing the changes.
We will be inviting National MP’s
to a meeting next month to reassure Pacific Church Ministers
that they will not change the law under their
watch.
It’s time to test whether their rhetoric matches
the commitment to Pacific communities or just another speech
to draw in Pacific votes during election
time.

Any number of movie examples come to mind, beginning with Rudolf Valentino’s role (over a century ago) as the romantic Arab hero in The Sheik... More
