Young Nats Call on Government to Review Refugee Quota
The Young Nats have today called on the Government to bring forward the review of New Zealand's annual refugee quota, and act to increase the number of refugees resettled here.
Katy Hendrikse, Vice-President of the Young Nats said: "Our survey results have shown that a strong majority of young people are in favour of increasing the refugee quota. It's a part of the role of a youth wing to occasionally challenge our Party on issues that are important to our members."
"We believe young New Zealanders support this change and want to see New Zealand do our part as a global citizen" Ms Hendrikse said.
"We've sent this letter to our Members of Parliament to ask them to review our refugee quota, and let them know that the majority of Young Nats are in favour of sensible, properly resourced resettlement of more refugees." She said.
