Multiple Birth Association celebrates volunteers

Multiple Birth Association celebrates volunteers who get things done at Gala Dinner

It was an evening of glitter and glamour and of course the Wellington WOW factor. Hosted by New Zealand Multiple Birth Association (NZMBA) patron Mary Lambie, volunteers from around the country were applauded for their work, time and commitment to the multiples community. While some nominees had served their Multiple Birth Club for many years, others still had multiples under a year old.

The Porse/NZMBA Volunteer Awards were the highlight of the gala dinner at the NZMBA National Conference (2-4 October 2015), held in Wellington. Each winner of an award received a cash prize and some awards saw a donation made to the winner’s regional multiple birth club.

NZMBA President, Carolyn Lister says, “The quality and commitment of the many volunteers within our organisation is incredible, especially considering the fact that many of them lead very busy lives. This programme is one of the ways that our families can say thank you.”

The Award Winners were:

‘A JOB WELL DONE’ AWARD – for a volunteer who has provided exceptional service for the betterment of multiple birth families within their local area or nationally. Winner: Michelle Kitney (Wellington Multiple Birth Club); Runner Up: Annie Cunningham (Kapi-Mana Multiple Birth Club).

EMERGING LEADER AWARD – for a volunteer who has stepped up and made a difference in their club or the New Zealand multiple birth community in their first year as a volunteer. Winner Shelley King (Triplets Plus Club and Nelson Marlborough Satellite Group of Christchurch Multiple Birth Club).
