Crush their damn cars and to hell with the PCIA

Crush their damn cars and to hell with the PCIA

12 February 2016

“Compare that with fleeing drivers that means of the 2300 drivers that flee the police every year only 230 will be prosecuted meaning that over 2000 dangerous drivers who pose a risk to public safety will escape any sort of punishment or consequences for their actions.” McVicar

Judith Collins suggestion that drivers who flee from police should have their cars crushed gets support from the Sensible Sentencing Trust.

Sensible Sentencing Founder, Garth McVicar said the mentality of giving into criminals in the past had not worked and has ultimately caused an escalation of crime in New Zealand by playing into the criminals hands.

“I am absolutely astounded that the IPCA [Independent Police Complaints Authority] have called on the police to change the rules around fleeing drivers.”

The facts are:

• The fleeing driver was breaking the law to come to police attention in the first place
• He / she was requested and given the opportunity to stop
• It was a deliberate decision to break the law and refuse to stop
• It was a conscious choice to flee the police
• The Police have done nothing to aggravate the situation, in fact all they have done is attempt to do their job by enforcing the law and protect the public

“Where and earth does this IPCA PC nonsense end?”

“So we tell all drivers it is safe to break the law because the police won’t chase you and if you are unlucky enough to be caught later and prosecuted some liberal Judge will most likely give you a slap on the wrist with the proverbial bus ticket.”

“We only need to look at history to see what happens when laws are relaxed.”

“When the police took the hammer off burglars burglaries escalated alarmingly with 50,000 burglaries now reported annually [only a fraction is reported] with a resolution rate of just 10%! That means over 45,000 unsolved burglaries per year. Recidivism has also spiralled in proportion to offending.”

“Compare that with fleeing drivers that means of the 2300 drivers that flee the police every year only 230 will be prosecuted meaning that over 2000 dangerous drivers who pose a risk to public safety will escape any sort of punishment or consequences for their actions.”

“Is that what the IPCA [PC] really want?”

“We say Crush their damn cars and to hell with the PCIA.”

Gordon Campbell: On Dune 2, And Images Of Islam

Depictions of Islam in Western popular culture have rarely been positive, even before 9/11. Five years on from the mosque shootings, this is one of the cultural headwinds that the Muslim community has to battle against. Whatever messages of tolerance and inclusion are offered in daylight, much of our culture tends to be hostile to Islam when we’re sitting in the dark, with popcorn.
Any number of movie examples come to mind, beginning with Rudolf Valentino’s role (over a century ago) as the romantic Arab hero in The Sheik...
