Living Wage rate released - $19.80

The CTU is is proud to be joining faith groups and community groups in calling on employers to pay working people the living wage of $19.80 per hour.

“The minimum wage, announced today of $15.25 isn’t enough to live on – it’s barely enough to exist on. The living wage is just that, a wage which people can live on, a wage which can sustain a family. Everyone should be earning enough to live on – it really is that simple,” CTU President Richard Wagstaff said.

“It’s great that more and more employers are recognising the benefit of paying those that work for them a living wage. This is true leadership and these employers are to be congratulated,” Wagstaff said.
