New Zealanders are ready to make history

With ballot papers now in the hands of New Zealanders, we are now able to make history, according to Change the NZ Flag Chairman Lewis Holden.

“We are the first country in the world to have the opportunity to vote for our national flag. Every vote cast will be part of history,” Mr Holden said.

“This vote will shape our future for decades to come and the choice is clear – a flag that has another country’s emblem on it, or a flag with a silver fern that has been democratically voted on.

“In the last two weeks we have seen a groundswell of support for change, because people want their children and grandchildren to have a flag that truly represents New Zealand.

“This is a once in a lifetime opportunity, and we’re excited to be part of it.

“We’re reminding people to check their mailboxes this week, and to make a vote for the future.

“Then we need them to encourage their family and friends to do the same. We can win this if everyone spreads the word and casts their vote,” Mr Holden said.
