Taxpayers' Union Backs Seymour's Call for One Law for All
Taxpayers' Union Backs Seymour's Call for One (Tax) Law for All
7 MARCH 2016
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Responding to ACT leader David Seymour calling for the removal of the Maori Authority special tax rate, after iwi-owned Go Bus won the contract to service the South Auckland area, Taxpayers’ Union Executive Director, Jordan Williams, says:
“Many New Zealanders will be shocked to learn that Maori Authorities pay a lower rate of company tax because of a special status. We absolutely agree that company tax rates should not be based on the race of their shareholders.”
“Gone are the days of a National Party standing for ‘one law for all’. Now even ‘one tax rule for all’ is only ‘aspirational’.”
