Where does Andrew Little Stand on Euthanasia ?

Where does Andrew Little Stand on Euthanasia and Assisted Suicide?

andrew little Media Release 24 June 2016

Right to Life commends Andrew Little, leader of the Labour Party, for withholding permission to Iain Lees-Galloway MP, to return the “End of Life Choice” bill, drafted by the Hon Maryan Street, to the Parliamentary ballot. Right to Life also commends his motives which were to concentrate on issues of “homelessness, employment and health care are our priorities. We have to focus on those things that are building a better nation.” These are noble culture of life objectives, that should have the full support of the community.

The only purpose of government is to legislate for the life and happiness of the community, and not to preside over its destruction. This was the objective of the founders of the Labour Party, who knew that Parliament has no authority to legislate to allow for the killing of the weak by the strong. Our conscience informs us that it is always wrong to kill.

Right to Life requests Andrew Little to publicly repudiate support for euthanasia. Michael Savage would turn in his grave if he could see his Party now promoting the killing of the vulnerable under the pretence of compassion.

The Hon Maryan Street has been elected as the new National President of the Voluntary Euthanasia Society NZ and is expected to take her place in Parliament as a list MP prior to the next general election. Right to Life anticipates, that there will be increased pressure on Andrew Little, to support the return of the euthanasia bill to the ballot. This bill would be a threat to our most vulnerable members, the aged, the disabled and seriously ill.

There are many in our community, who are strongly opposed to the Labour Party, supporting the law being changed to allow doctors to kill their patients, they would never ever vote for a Party that wishes to promote a culture of death that threatens the lives of the vulnerable. Euthanasia is not health care. We are talking about killing not caring.

Right to Life is very concerned and disappointed that Andrew Little, has previously expressed support for euthanasia. This should be of great concern for our nation. The electorate have a right to know the answers to the following questions, in the event that he is elected as Prime Minister at the next election;

We have asked him the following questions;

· Would he support this contentious and dangerous bill being restored to the ballot?
· How does he reconcile support for government funded assisted suicide with support for the government’s Suicide Prevention Strategy”?
· Why does he support doctors killing their patients when it is strongly opposed by the NZMA who wish to be carers not killers?

Gordon Campbell: On Dune 2, And Images Of Islam

Depictions of Islam in Western popular culture have rarely been positive, even before 9/11. Five years on from the mosque shootings, this is one of the cultural headwinds that the Muslim community has to battle against. Whatever messages of tolerance and inclusion are offered in daylight, much of our culture tends to be hostile to Islam when we’re sitting in the dark, with popcorn.
Any number of movie examples come to mind, beginning with Rudolf Valentino’s role (over a century ago) as the romantic Arab hero in The Sheik...
